Mit tiefer Dankbarkeit! (With deep gratitude!)

You are doing your best. Pushing hard and struggling- effort, time and even monetarily wasted! It can be an easy job but tedious or it can be hard and challenging. Whatsoever… spend every slice of you to get things done most likely unentertaining.

Good for those who get an hour of praise/approval/applause. Great are those who can enjoy and sailed through this mental torturing. But let us face the reality, not all shares the same thought and outcome.

No, I’m not saying anyone is an attention seeker but what I’m pointing to …a majestic word in English language, ‘APPRECIATE’ (ə prēs̸hē āt′).  It comes in many meanings but here I’m looking specific at ‘to recognize and be grateful for; be thankful for, to recognize with gratitude, to value or admire highly [Merriam-Webster].’

I don’t intend to make this an English class other than make clear the word. I just feel that people should not take things for granted. Is it that hard to show some sense of appreciation?

I quote Barbara Walters<always my fav.>, ‘To feel valued, to know, even if only once in a while, that you can do a job well is an absolutely marvelous feeling.’ Isn’t it inspiring? Appreciation surely is always a wonderful thing because you got to share a portion of the excellent effort.  What do you think about it?

But, does it mean if only you did a great job then you are worthy to be grateful? Mostly, it comes to the quality of effort. That’s for certain, an assessment process embedded in any system at anywhere. However, what worth for those who does average or even let down? Are we going to leave them?  I personally hold the principle of ‘you sow what you ripe’.  Not going to sympathies people who dig his own grave. However somewhere out there, I believe someone still deserved to be given a chance. I leave you to decide who’s worthwhile. Isn’t that- even a giant will fall. No one is perfect. Nemo sine vitio est. Indeed, a hard balancing-exercise if you ask me. Just that, any person will change (even if temporarily) with constant or unexpected encouragement. Showing of gratitude towards other, appreciate them or a word of encouragement –well-chosen, well-timed, with pinch of sincerity, you’ll start a spark. It’s free but an extreme expression which can worth a fortune!

Psychologist and researcher, Dr Sonja Lyubomirsky studies reported in Positive Psychology Studies On Happiness describes her research findings on gratitude and optimism. According to Dr Lyubomirsky, those using gratitude and those using optimism showed increased happiness as measured … Motivation is a critical factor in successfully improving happiness with either gratitude or optimism. A motivated person can become happier by practicing simple gratitude, optimism, and kindness activities. However, there’s a mixture reflection on cultural difference on the acceptability of optimism.

We may have abundant of quotes, words of teaching, finding…etc nonetheless, how many realized it in our daily living. Now, i’m thinking ‘who should i direct to’ the above subject matter. Employer? Boss? Parents? or myself? Everyone! I think everyone is the FAIR direction.

Probably we should learn to unleash our gratitude muscles for the growth and development of people around us. After all, life should be inspiring. We may walk in different way of life yet we are same in one common ground of pursuing happiness in life.
